“What a lovely place Blossomwood is.”

Blossomwood is an established residential care home situated on the outskirts of the village of Elmstead Market, which is within easy reach of the town of Colchester.  The home is set in landscaped grounds of around a third of an acre, with pleasant views of the surrounding farmland.

The main house provides residential care for 7 adults with Learning Disabilities, who present socially inappropriate and/or behaviour that challenges the service.
The main emphasis in the home is to provide a comfortable, secure and stable living environment, where the service user will be supported to overcome their personal difficulties, with structured and individual care, training and activities.

The extension is in the form of a single storey, five bedroom annex, which operates independently from the main house. This development has facilitated three of the people who have made significant progress to “move on” to a more independent and appropriate living environment.

The Annex provides spacious living accommodation, to a service user who has reasonable personal and social skills and who are seeking the opportunity to build on the skills in order to develop a greater degree of competence and achieve maximum independence.

Blossomwood’s philosophy of care is person centred, where the service user is enabled and empowered to take control of what happens in his/ her care and the future.   As a service provider we consider it our responsibility to work with the person, his/ her family and professionals to ensure this happens.
